The Phoenix

Fall out boy主唱帕特里克·斯特普受到了前蘇聯作曲家德米特里·德米特里耶維奇·肖斯塔科維奇的啓發。當欣賞德米特里·德米特里耶維奇·肖斯塔科維奇的《第7號交響曲·第四部分》時，帕特里克·斯特普的思維被打開，於是帕特里克·斯特普準備創作該首歌曲。歌曲對肖斯塔科維奇1941年發行的作品《Allegro Non Troppo》 進行了採樣；歌曲中的管絃樂片段對德國嘻哈藝人彼得·福克斯2008年發行的作品《Alles Neu》進行的採樣 ^[3]  。歌詞的靈感源自馬特·狄龍執導的電影《大河邊緣》 ^[4]  。

《The Phoenix》的音調為E中調，擁有每分鐘132次的快節拍，帕特里克·斯特普的聲音控制在G5到D6之間 ^[6]  。《The Phoenix》是《Save Rock and Roll》這部搖滾歌劇的開篇之作。從開始"Put on your war paint!"，帕特里克·斯特普已經不再只是一個為金屬樂而跺腳的人了，他越變越瘋狂。歌中有死亡迪斯科、電子樂，每一個重複段都充滿力量 ^[7]  。

《The Phoenix》的MV由亞當·唐納德和Andrew Zaeh共同執導，於2013年3月25日發佈。MV是打倒男孩的系列MV《The Young Blood Chronicles》11部中的第二部，是《My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark》MV的前傳故事之一，同時也是《Young Volcanoes》MV的前一部 ^[8]  。

MV開頭出現的是《My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark》MV的結尾部分，隨後，銀幕上出現“Earlier that week”，於是MV進入正式部分。一個皮箱被送到了打倒男孩那，帕特里克·斯特普用手銬將手與皮箱銬在一起而開始啓程。當他在街上行走時，一個扮成女性的男孩騎自行車來到了他前方，正道他凝視這個男孩時，發現他不是個女性，這時，一個蒙面女性從他的身後用電擊棒將其擊暈，然後將其綁架。

斯特普被帶到一個黑屋裏面，一個女人砍掉了他的一隻手，並開始實施各種折磨。然後那個女人叫男孩將這隻手送到皮特·温茲那去。皮特發現這隻手後，從屋頂上釋放了一隻鷹。安迪·赫裏看到了那隻鷹，他正準備上車時，被蒙面女性綁架。喬·特洛曼在加油站也看到了那隻鷹，但隨後也被蒙面女性擊暈綁架。之後，皮特·温茲在屋頂也被蒙面女性擊暈綁架。之後，MV進入《Young Volcanoes》的畫面，而銀幕突然變黑，MV結束 ^[8]  。
